Jackson Taylor is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and a candidate at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis. He graduated summa cum laude from NYU with a B.S. in Applied Psychology in 2011 and went on to complete a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Adelphi University in 2016.

In his work as a psychologist, he aims to help people who struggle with problems related to personal identity, intimacy, relationships, trauma, loss, overwhelm, and other psychological and emotional concerns. He has years of experience treating healthcare workers and other helping professionals, LGBTQ+ people, creatives, athletes, and the military/veteran community. 

During doctoral training, he gained experience in a variety of specialized settings including the Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture, the Mount Sinai Hospital World Trade Center Mental Health Program, and the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. Drawing upon decades of psychotherapy research at the Brief Psychotherapy Research Program and supported in part by grants from Psi Chi (the International Honor Society in Psychology), his doctoral research examined the negotiation of cultural identities and other aspects of the therapy relationship. As a graduate student, he was selected for the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program and commissioned as a Naval officer. He served as an active-duty military psychologist for six years which included an overseas tour and several years on staff at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.

Dr. Taylor is currently in full-time practice at NYU Psychiatry Associates. He provides psychotherapy, psychological assessment, clinical supervision, and consultation. He also serves as an adjunct clinical supervisor at the Derner School of Psychology, Adelphi University. He is licensed as a clinical psychologist in NY, DC, VA, and FL.
